My ideal summer would be spent wearing this dress, frolicking in the hills of Tuscany with Emma Thompson and Denzel Washington a la Kenneth Branagh's Much Ado About Nothing. I usually end up in fairly uninspired halters and shorts, but in that outfit you can't sit in the shade of a Cyprus tree and have grape juice dribble down your chin whilst saying things like "Sigh no more, ladies/ Sigh no more..." It's not possible- I've tried. Now in this dress, scavenged from a tent at the Inman Park festival a few weeks ago, you can say just about anything you want to and no one will care. Now, that's my kind of summer uniform! Hmmm... if only I could convince my boyfriend how dashing he would look in navy blue leather pants (see Denzel in bottom photo).

Photos: Top three: A little photoshop magic and I'm twirling in the Tuscan countryside. All photos in Inman Park dress with vintage winking owl ring (my favorite piece of jewelry! And this bird sits on my middle finger harhar), necklace from River Island, and bangles from Dresscodes.

Sigh no more ladies, Sigh no more
ReplyDeleteThe deceit of men was ever
One foot in sea and one on shore
To one thing constant never
Than sigh not so but let them go
And be you blithe and bonny
Converting all you sounds of woe
To hey, nonny, nonny!
And a hey, nonny, nonny, to your beautiful summer dress and to Tom in his performance as Benedict in "Much a do..." this weekend!
cool ring!

Jacquelyn, thanks for the whole text... When I next wear my dress I will recite the whole thing under a magnolia tree (as we are short of cyprus here in the ATL ;)
