So Cath and I joined the ranks and scoured our local Target for Alexander McQueen finds. I snatched up the jumpsuit and Cath got the TRS pants and a cute zip-up hoodie.
I had to work some magic with the jumpsuit. I love the studded shoulders and the cut and weight of the fabric feels pretty good, but it still needed some tweaking. The attached belt is sewn on at the waist and looks awkward, so I dropped the waist using an old studded belt I already had. Also the length and crop of the pant is really unflattering so I scrunched them up my leg using hair ties (a la Bleach Black- genuis!).
That might seem like a lot of back-bending for a jumpsuit, but I'm pretty happy with the results. And, hail to the jumpsuit, the most pajama-like non-pajamas ever!
I know a lot of fashion bloggers are pretty disappointed with the McQueen/Target collaboration, but we figure we'll settle for this McQueen until we can afford this McQueen.
sunnies, Nordstorm; cuff, Eviva; belt, Walmart (yes, ma'am!); shoes, Max Studio.
See the scrunching in action. Without the hair ties, the pant legs come down to mid-caf.
Ahhhh the backpack (Urban)- it's my new favorite thing.
So, two questions:
1)What did you guys get from the McQueen/Target line?
and
2) Are you jumpsuit people? Seriously, you should try one on! So comfortable! (Though I did get a few jokes about prison-wear)

i love everything in this outfit. your jumpsuit is sooooooooo cool and the blue insert match with the big sunnies. happy weekend!

Aww I'm glad you gals managed to get your mitts on them! The jumpsuit is ace. We call them "onesies" here. God knows why. I am onesie/jumpsuit ready. Although going to the bathroom is .... less than glamorous.
ReplyDeleteYou rock the jumpsuit. I need to get to Target!
ReplyDeleteThe jumpsuit looks great on you! And That Kristen idea works great. I got the harness swimsuit.
ReplyDeleteI wish we could get this line in the UK. I really like your shoes by the way.
ReplyDeleteI love that you've got MARTA in the first shot!! Looks great. Target needs some designer men's lines
ReplyDeletecool...i love that
ReplyDeleteits a fantastic outfit. i love it. cant believe how you can make an all black outfit be really interesting. love your hair.
ReplyDeletehave a wonderful weekend..
about the jumpsuit thing. i really like some models. like this.. but not all..
I'm totally a jumpsuit person! You look great! And I'm totally digging the backpack. I think I'm making a special trip to Target because of you guys! :-)
ReplyDeleteI havent seen it yet, but it already has not lived up to one my expectations. why couldnt it have just been the mainline mcq? Have you seen the next Go though? Tracy Feith. it kind of looks awesome.
ReplyDeleteSo evidently women and Target have a special bond, since I honestly can barely remember the last time I was in one...why don't they make cool clothes for guys?
ReplyDeleteoh and when I lived in chicago and walked everywhere, I totally rocked a carhart full pant jumpsuit in the winter...somehow instead of fashionable I just kind of looked like the michelin man
i didn't even know he was doing a line for target! i'm so out of the loop!! as for jumpsuits--i love the look on some people while others just look a little silly. you look beautiful though!
ReplyDeleteI have got to get to target!!! I am going to try the jumpsuit look, don't know how it will look on me though. Love it on you!
ReplyDeleteomg this could not be MORE FABULOUS! I love it ...{I love jumpsuits too :)} HOT HOT HOT!!!
ReplyDeletei was pretty disappointed by the line- especially since he's my favorite desinger. i guess i just set my expectations too high! i did love the high waisted black full skirt.
ReplyDeletei agree with eli- i'm already excited about the tracy feith!
OK. I have owned two jumpsuits in my life and they were each the best thing in my closet in their respective times.
ReplyDeleteThe first was a very simple flax-colored short sleeved number bought at Lord & Taylor (in New York, at the time my favorite store ever) zipped up the front from low to high--but demure--very L&T. This was about 1975. Worked great with my white-girl afro and platform shoes.
The second was pink (!) with lots of silver-colored zips and big padded shoulders and rolled-up sleeves. Needless to say, this was about 1982. Went great with big '80's hair and mules. I have no recollection of its provenance.
No jumpsuits since then. I think if I wore one now someone would ask me to paint his house.
But I remember those two fondly.
amazingggg.! i am definitely heading to target soon.
ReplyDeletethe hair is amazing!
ReplyDeleteblue sunnies are always unbeatable!

Great outfit! Hmm I've never tried a jumpsuit but always been curious about them. How convenient are they when you need to go to the bathroom?
ReplyDeletei was on the fence about jumpsuits but you've seriously convinced me!! you look great :-)
ReplyDeleteOooh I didn't even think twice about the jumpsuit! (I don't know, I'm impatient and can't be bothered to wear something I can't zip off if I have to pee!)
ReplyDeleteI ended up only getting the logo tee and swimwear. I went back for the pink one shoulder one piece but feel like it is ridiculous. I can't decide if it's ridiculously awesome or just ridiculous.
it's too bad there isn't a target in Canada. I'd go and check it out too if there was one near by!
ReplyDeleteI am a bit disappointed by the McQueen Target line. I feel like he had an assistant to an assistant design it.
ReplyDeleteI had just been thinking about digging out my striped 70's jumpsuit/romper and this put me over the top. It's going to pop up in a post soon!
The jumpsuit is so fab fab fab! Your bag is to die for.
ReplyDeleteHi there-It looks fabulous and don't forget, all the tweaking and customisation makes it unique to you!! I'm a great fan of jumpsuits, a fab trend!
ReplyDeleteI love jumpsuits but i don't think they'll look good on me..
ReplyDeleteI love the backpack!
you definitely look like a rockstar!
ReplyDeleteI haven't liked any of the recent target collaborations; they all went for that same edgy-chic vibe. I miss the girliness of erin featherston and the quirks from tara jamon.
I would definitely try a jumpsuit, but I'll probably go for a maxi dress first :)
you look great!
stunning......!!!!
ReplyDeletethe blue touch makes everything looks fantastic...
and nice hair too, sexeeeyyyy... :)
the backpackkkkkkkkkk!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT ♥
I'm loving the jumpsuit, it's sort of like wearing a dress. You just put it on and Viola! Too bad there is no Target here in Toronto, otherwise I'd be shopping there all the time...lol
ReplyDeletexoxo
Mimi
This looks fab on you!!
ReplyDeleteHeard the quality on these was disappointing...any worse than to be expected from a box store?
ReplyDeleteYour jumpsuit is perfected! I am 100% a jumpsuit kinda gal... they make me feel sassy somehow, though it is a pain to have to unbuckle the belt, unzip, and take your arms out of the sleeves just to use the restroom!
ReplyDeleteyou pull it all off so well! i was just there last week, and i couldn't find anything i really liked. i'm definitely a fan of jumpsuits ;)
ReplyDeletei was definitely one of those who were disappointed by his Target line. I expected so much and it's like he didn't try at all! it was very Peggy Bundy.
ReplyDeleteGirl, this worked out far better for you than it did for me...the legs rolled up looks great! I think my torso is too long or something, because it was so uncomfortable and unflattering on me. Durn!
