Jane Austen Style

I might be revealing too much of myself here, but I have to for the sake of the post: I'm a huge Jane Austen fan. I love everything that's related to her: her novels, the films, the Georgian/Regency eras, Bath, England, the unlimited amount of cheesy sequels written for Pride and Prejudice etc...

So I was pleasantly surprised to find some Jane-Austen-era-inspired clothing at Abercrombie.com - of all places. I've never shopped at A&F before (I first saw these blouses on www.stylenotes.com), but that might change after today. I love the femininity of the tops and I'm sure the square-neckline and ribbon embellishments would have made these a big hit in 1810.

Considering that my Jane Austen fanaticism is usually met with eye-rolls (especially from my guy friends) and an assumption that I read romance novels (I do not!), I won't mention it again on this blog...at least not for a while.

I think I watched the Pride and Prejudice TV series (with Colin Firth) about, ooh 6 times, how I was in love with those loose fit smick tops and dresses (and Colin Firth, obv.)

Wendy, glad I'm not the only one.

Lynn and Miss Woo, I'm a huge P&P fan. You can't get a better Mr. Darcy than Colin Firth.

Thanks Chililday!

Cee-Cee, I feel so out of touch since I'm no longer in school. Too bad it's already kind of passe.

Faithsalutes, I'm right there with you. That's why I've never shopping A&F before.

I am an Austen fan and not ashamed to say it! Who else can bring such purity and innocence to our hearts when writing about love.. Oh the cruelty of life these days!

Glamourette, it's not great loss. At least you have Jane Austen!

Secretista, I think a lot of people would agree with you!

Eli, you're right. I was trying to think of what they could be paired with.

Pomegranate, hear, hear! It makes me so happy to know that there are other style-obsessed Jane Austen fans out there!

I'd written off A&F a long time ago but these are actually tempting.

Sally Jane, I had done the same thing and I still don't think A&F will be a favorite, but it's nice to know that churn out a few good pieces.
