Day Trip to

Photobucket

This past month has been so busy that, not only have I not had much time to blog, but I've fallen far behind on posting images that I've taken from the beginning of the summer. Since this week is turning out to be as hectic as the previous three, it's a good opportunity for me to publish some old posts that I've been meaning to put on the blog for the past two months (including this post you're reading now).

Athens, GA is the quintessential college town and a perfect day trip from Atlanta. It has great, independently-owned shops and restaurants that are usually cheaper than their Atlanta equivalents and the city is home to an amazing music scene.

Photobucket

Agora (pictured above and below) is my absolute favorite shop. With over 50 different vintage dealers, I could spend a whole afternoon in there without getting bored. Hell would have frozen over the day I leave Agora empty-handed.

Photobucket

On my most recent trip to Agora I purchased a white 70s dress with black detailing, a cylindrical black and silver ring, and a pair of pink wayfarers for Lauren.

Photobucket

Every time I go to Athens I end up visiting with my boyfriend. He loves the coffee shops, but hates shopping (can't blame him). So, before the summer is up, I'm determined to take Lauren over to Athens for the day so we can do some serious shopping, coffee drinking, eating and music listening.

I think that's hauttte, I feel very lucky to have such a great college town nearby.

We wear things and Savvy gal, I'm glad you like the dress. I think I might hem it a bit before I wear it.

Andrew, that sounds like a plan. Then when I need a short break from shopping, you can buy me an iced coffee - yum.

We wear things, I've always wanted to go to Austin. I have the impression that Athens is like a mini Austin.

this wheel's on fire, do you have any good vintage (affordable) shops in your neck of the woods?

Sharon Rose, Atlanta might not be as great as NYC or London, but all the small towns surrounded it have some much character that it totally makes up for it.

Dana, you and me are totes in the same boat!

Alya, the ring was under $20 - not bad, right?

Times of glory, glad you like them. I can't wait to wear the dress - just need the right occasion.

Terri, you are too sweet - especially b/c half my pics are blurry! Thanks for all your support!

Podszewka, you too!

Clothes Horse, let us know if you're ever visiting your sister. We should meet up!

June, you should totally take a day trip to Athens. it's so much fun to explore!

I've never been to Athens; I hear the music is superb, and everyone always seems to say they love it. I hope I get to go there sometime!

Sounds a little bit like my town of Athens Ohio, which is also a small college town. There's a few cute little shops here like that.

Oh I looooove Athens, GA - these pics made me so nostaligic for my college days... I went to Emory and my bf at the time and I used to take little weekend jaunts to Athens -such wonderful shops and restaurants!

Treasures everywhere! I love to go vintage shopping there are always unique finds.

Agora looks divine.. I want to go! I'm looking into colleges right now and I'm considering Emory, so I'm going to put this on my list of pros. I've seriously begun eliminating colleges based on the shopping I'll be able to do while I'm there!

Ooh Agora looks like it has some great treasures to be discovered! My favorite! :)

Ahhhh! I used to live right in front of Agora and would always stop by for whatever reason, especially on those bad test days. The girl who works there is too cute.

I also like Helix, which my friend describes as "Hallmark on crack."

If you guys like beer, you should check out Trapeze (on Washington Street, next to Hot Corner). They have a very impressive bar.

Stephanie, the only thing that was stopping me was the lack of money in my wallet!

Fashion is poison, it's worth the trip!

Wendy, that's the best thing about it being in Athens. It hasn't been picked over.

cupcakes and cashmere, I'll keep that in mind. Too bad I'm not traveling anywhere in the near future.

Enc, it would be a great weekend trip.

Yiqin, yep, we seem to have a nose for spending our money ;).

Liz Blair, I had no idea there was an Athens, OH! What college is located there?

CoutureCarrie, that's so cool that you're familiar with Athens! What were your favorite places there?

Diana, we couldn't agree with you more!

Shen-Shen, definitely put Emory on your list. Not only is it a great school, but Atlanta is a great place to go to college - especially if you have fellow bloggers showing you the best places.

Pearl, I could spend all afternoon in that store and be happy!

Miss A. I love Helix too! And I've walked by Trapeze, but never went in. I'll definitely stop by on my next visit. Any other Athens favorites?

the white dress is too cute..how long does it take you to go from atlanta to athens??

AsianCajuns said...

For me it takes a little bit over an hour. It's not a bad drive unless you decide to go during a game weekend or during rush hour!
