Part of Elizabeth's shoe collection.
Tonight Cath, Amelia and I got to put on our bartending hats for a fancy party for the Decatur Book Festival. How fancy, you ask? It was at a guy's penthouse. We'll call this guy Ted (coincidentally that happens to be his real name too). And I got to escort this guy to the door and up the elevator. Namedropping/linking aside, the highlight of the evening was not shaking famous hands or watching the Atlanta sunset disappear behind the CNN building- it was the shoes!
The beautiful Elizabeth Dewberry let us raid her closet: Prada shifts, Zac Posen suits, sexy Cavalli dresses.... and shoes! Christian Louboutins, Manolos (feathery and white), Chanel ballet flats... le sigh! It was pretty dreamy. Move over Rushdie and let me at the red soles.*
Cath displaying a Bottega Veneta.
Here we are with Elizabeth in her Chanel suit. One day, Cath, one day....
*Literary types, please do not cringe. If J.D. Salinger had walked through the door I would've tossed the shoes off the balcony– or at least put them aside long enough to gawk at him.

Pan's Holiday
and thank you for added us to your blog roll. We'll add you to ours.
:)
You girls both looked great, even sans the Chanel suit!!
ReplyDeleteLiterature and Chanel--sounds like my kind of shindig!
ReplyDeleteOMG! Rushdie!?! I think I just died of envy. There is not much I wouldn't do to brush shoulders with that man!
ReplyDeleteThat is sooo cool.
Sounds like fun and she seems like a cool lady to hang out with and talk fashion :)

Hi there-sounds like a fab evening and I love her suit!! Have a great weekend girls!
ReplyDeleteI hate pointy toed shoes.. And clogs.. And yet I find myself pretty jealous
ReplyDeleteWhat a dreamy evening - even if you DID have to work! You both look smashing.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you had a lovely time! Such fun to see those fab shoes and clothes :)
ReplyDeleteSo cool--shoes, books, authors! Sigh: the shoes, and gawd, I've wanted a Chanel suit for years!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great evening. And y'all are the best-dressed bartenders.
Did I mention the shoes?
Wow, from Manolo to Ted, you get ultimate name drop privilege after that event!!! And of course, here at Emory, we're huge fans of our new professor Rushdie!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like quite the night. Fancy shoes, fancy people. Can't ask for much more. Sometimes I forget people actually have closets like that...
ReplyDeleteps.I think if Mr. Salinger had walked through the door my head would've exploded.
Love your blog! The shoes and the Chanel suit are interesting, but your personal style is far more compelling :)
ReplyDeleteHoly crap and a half, I'm so happy/seething with jealousy!! I once worked on a program for a charity auction to win Tea Time with Salman Rushdie. I couldn't go. Definitely couldn't afford him. Very sad.
ReplyDeleteAlso, you girls look very beautiful. =) Elegant and proper.
GAH; I LOVE, LOVE Manalos! And that suit is GORGEOUS!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou girls are moving up in this world. ;)
ReplyDeleteNo offense, but screw the shoes! You ladies are so lucky to meet such literary figures! That'd be cool to be you for a day. ;-)
ReplyDeleteCath looks positively in nirvana with those shoes! That made me laugh. I wish I could play in that closet too.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous shoes! It looks like you guys had a magical evening! xxoxoxo
ReplyDeletelucky girls! rushdie! i would die!
ReplyDeletei'll take it. LOVE :-)
ReplyDeleteliterature and fashion seems like a pretty lethal combination for me!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that you guys were bartenders! Is it fun? Do you talk to people about their problems? I always thought that people training to be counselors should work for a while as bartenders, like an internship or something.
ReplyDeleteIf I worked in a bar, i would wear some really cool clothes.
what a collection!
ReplyDeleteWhoa whoa whoa whoa...you met Salman Rushdie?
ReplyDelete(Incomprehensible babbling)
Great blog!
ReplyDeleteOff-topic but can I ask -- where were you guys when this picture was taken? Not even sure it's Atlanta, but it looks like it might be near Centennial Olympic Park.
cuties!
