Church on Sunday

We live in the bible belt. It's a strange place to be after growing up in agnostic, politically correct Washington D.C. Nearly every corner has a church of some denomination or other. And we're aren't just limited to Christianity. We are home to nearly as many mosques, synagogues, meeting houses and temples (the largest Hindu temple in the States is right down the road from us).

This afternoon we happened upon a neglected Baptist church just down the road from our 'rents new place. We stopped to take some pictures and to get upbraided by a passerby for not going to church on Sunday. I guess our outfits gave us away. Next time we'll wear hats.

No hat, but Cath's gladiators (Nine West) are pretty sweet.

To church, I inappropriately wore a pink bandeau and tank from American Apparel, some cutoffs and work boots from Target.

Edit: don't worry, dear readers, that is no cigarette in my hand- just my El Bar key chain turned sideways (therefore, no cancer, but my liver might have to worry).

  10. Those gladiators are fantastic! I've always been a fan of Nine West, but unfortunately the European version has a suckier range at higher prices. Love the cut-offs + boots look as well!

  14. Those gladiators look fantastic. And I remember the church near me closed down, and for like a month it pretty much became a crack den. I did break through the window once just to take photographs of the inside, it was rather pretty...just had to watch out for where I stepped!

  17. The church I go to (once a year because I hate church and am a bad Christian), many people wear that sorta thing. You just need to pose outside of a relaxed church :P

  20. Perhaps it's the years of catholic schooling, but I think I'm far too comfortable in churches...

ps. I don't really think a girl can carry/wear anything and it end up being too manly. Girls always look super cool in the manliest gear. Like I could never walk around with spurs on...but a girl totally could.

  28. Hahaha "Next time we'll wear hats". That should take care of it! PS. I dig the way the pockets peek out of Lar's shorts... not exactly appropriate for church, but perfect for a secular sunday in hotlanta!
