Pie and Other Things

I've been a fan of Pushing Daisies for about a year, but ever since I heard that ABC decided to cancel it after this season, I've been obsessing about it. How can something so good be canceled? I shouldn't be surprised. If it can happen to Arrested Development, it can happen to any great show.

The endless amount of over-the-top set designs and costumes are a great source of inspiration. But the show is much more than just pretty clothes and fancy rooms. The writing and acting is very good. Even though the plot sounds ridiculous, the show somehow pulls it all off without being too sweet or precious.

The main character in the show is a pie-maker and Lauren and I always have a craving for pie after watching an episode. This week has been busy, so after watching an episode we decided to make do with a mini cherry pie from Kroger. Here's what's left of it:

Being busy might be a good excuse for not making a pie from scratch, but it's no excuse for not having all of our Christmas decorations up yet. I'm determined to have everything up by the end of this weekend. I've made a good start this evening - the tree ornaments have actually made it out of the storage box!

Hope you all have a good weekend! If you have some free time make sure to rent/buy/netflix Pushing Daisies.

I've been meaning to watch this show, because I love Kristen Chenoweth. Isn't this the one she's on? If not I'm about to feel like an idiot.

After I watch Dead Like Me, I get a craving for waffles since they spend a lot of their time in a diner. TV makes me hungry.

(This isn't one of my brightest responses. Sorry ladies. :) )

I totally agree her, pushing daisies is amazing, for inspiration, but after a while of riddles and poetry sounding blabbering it get very, well, boring.

Daniel Craig....mmm....sorry, what was I saying? Oh yes - I loved the first season of Pushing Daisies plus her wardrobe and pies. But it follows a very predictable format and I find it hasn't been compelling viewing for me for a while. I still don't see why it should be cancelled when there's so much other dross on tv.

I haven´t seen it yet but I want to! I´ll check it out. I LOVE the card (?) with the three old men!

Cherry pie sounds yummy right now!... Anywho, about your loss, I'm really sorry it's being cancelled. That's a bummer :-( One show my sister and dad are hooked on is "Life on Mars." Maybe that could be your alternative? ;-)

I love that Daniel Craig ornament. How cute.

I've never seen "Pushing Daisies," but I like the look of it from these photos. I'm sorry I never tried it.

Pushing Daisies is a visual delight! I watched religiously during the first season, but with a new date/time this time around it conflicted with my salsa nights. Lee Pace just breaks my heart. :)

Fashion Therapist, yes I have seen The Waitress and I love it! I always crave pie after watching it too.

Emily, let me know what you think about it once you rent it!

Sharon Rose, Anna is great and her American accent is flawless!

So glad to see that Daniel/James ornament is a big hit.

This Wheel's on Fire, thank you!!!

Stephanie, yes Kristen is in Pushing Daisies and I love her! She's just as great in front of the camera as she is on stage.

J.wi, our tree is only about 3 ft. tall and from Big Lots, but we love it! It does feel very adult having one ;).

Franco, I never find it boring, but that could be due to my Lee Pace crush...

Ana B., it definitely follows the same formula, but I think the great sets and clothes help keep each episode interesting.

Amie, you're the only one who pointed out that card ;).

Terri, I've heard good things about Life on Mars, but I feel like if I start watching it, it'll be another good show that will be canceled - ah! that's a little too pessimistic!

Koko, I loved Lee Pace in the Fall and Ms. Pettigrew Lives for a Day.

Enc, rent it if you can!

I'm totally with you on that Lee Pace thing, Lisa ;).
