Cath in Kahki, White and Black

Whenever we're shopping, Cath always laments that she is drawn to slightly more conservative clothes because that's what she has to wear to work. Sure she would like to buy the liquid leggings, but they look loud and inappropriate under office fluorescents and out of place around a conference table. My job is a little more arty, so I can wear gold lame if I want to. But the upside for those in more conservative office settings is that Cath looks tres chic and I can look...well...experimental.

Cath has always been a little bit more conscious of fit and cut than I have, and I think this outfit is a perfect example. She reminds me of a cross between dapper Katherine Hepburn and elegant Audrey: menswear with a feminine cut and stilettos.

Jacket: Banana Republic, Necklace: Vivid Boutique, Shirt: H&M, Belt: Tarjay, Pants: Banana, Shoes: BCBG (TJ Max), Bag: Longchamp (a $3 find at Salvation Army!).

Cath, you look great. And I totally feel your pain. I'm going to be an accountant so I'll be business casual everyday for the rest of my life. Can't wait? *sarcasm* :-/

As a teacher, experimental fashion is a no-no. Cath--your look is very chic; I am going to copy it fo' sho'! I love the heels. A Longchamp for $3?!?!

Great call on the Hepburn reference. You guys really do dress as if the sartorialist is right around the corner...

ps I went to lawschool, although instead of just being drawn to classy, fashionable clothes, I was just inappropriate for 3 years.

Trying to look like you know stuff and mixing that with looking like you have personality is hard. Work dressing befuddles me sometimes. I thought i grew out of uniforms! But you look entirely too chic and intelligent!

Oh my gosh, Cath, you look gorgeous. I love those shoes, the whole look is just perfect. Since I'm in music we rarely if ever have to dress up, in fact I think it may give us credibility if we never do. But secretly, sometimes, I really just want to skip through the racks of J Crew and prep it out. Either way, you must have a very stylish office cause you look beautiful.

Cath, I am right there witcha. I am so grateful for my office job, but sometimes it can feel confining. I agree with Lauren, tho - you look sleek and stylish in this Hepburn-esque ensemble!

Oh Cath, how lovely--you look beautiful. (I also tends towards more classic chic for work). Lauren, I'd love to see what you rock to work!

Love this! I too work in a more conservative office. LOVE those pants, i might have to get me a pair!!!!

i love the masculine pieces sharply tailored to make them more fem! ditto on the shopping, i always want to peruse the fun sequin dresses and frothy tulle skirts but feel the pull of wardrobe-appropriate guilt and end up thumbing through sensible button downs.

I need to take some hints from Cath on finding perfectly tailored pieces. When my weight normalizes, I must kidnap you both and have you shop for me. Hehe.

Cath - the hair looks so great!!! I love the blunt bangs on you! :)

Wow, the $3 Longchamp bag is the ultimate bargain- someone didn't know how to price it then! The sunglasses add a touch of glamour!

Cath, you look fantastic! The shoes are lovely, and a Longchamp for $3--what a find.

She looks fantastic!! I'm going to run out after work and find pants just like that. I've always been a little afraid of cropped lengths, worried about balance and symmetry and all. But this works. Sleek sophisticate.

This makes me want to have an office job! I can't wear anything this chic at my work.
(I work at a lab so I wear anything that I don't want to ruin!)

i just adore Cath's work outfit!! i'm lucky i have the freedom to pretty much wear what i want.. and since i seem to be bipolar with fashion sometimes.. i verge from conservative to liquid leggings in the same week..

you two are like MK & A with your style, I think it's great. One is more eccentric and the other is a wee bit more conservative with the same great style&taste.
