In our opinion, Maira Kalman is one of the best illustrators out there today.

Her illustrations can be found on the cover of 11
New Yorkers - not too shabby!

Many of you might recognize her work from the illustrated version of E.B. White's
The Elements of Style.

She has a blog on the
NY Times website, but it's under Times Select so you have to pay extra to read it.

Until we're willing to shell out $$$ to read the Times Select, we'll stick to visiting her
site for drawing/painting/interior designing inspiration.

Hey guys. Enjoying your blog very much; I'm catching up on it today. I love the illustrations, but I'm ashamed to say I didn't know there WAS an illustrated version of Strunk & White, even after having a immensely gratfying (as if!) career as a copy editor/editor. Okay, I'm currently a member of the unemployed masses, but I always enjoy a good grammar book (Lapsed into a Comma, etc.). I'm going to stop buying the cheap paperback version of S & W.
Re: Cajun Sunshine rose: Of course it smells like gumbo, the best smell in the world :-). Hmmmm, maybe roux being cooked is the best smell. I dunno. (My German fiance is crazy about gumbo, just loves it, a sure sign of good character, don't you think?)
Later gators: I'm going to go make a roux,
Aunt Mare
Aunt Mare, You need to shop at Anthropologie more. That's where we first saw the illustrated version of Elements of Style. Plus, how can you beat a good shopping experience AND a literary education! :)
How did the roux turn out?
C'était très bon, merci.
i am a huge maira kalman fan, and i just got to interview her (!!!) - the interview will be up at my blog next week, and in the meantime i'm having a little drawing to win a copy of her newest book. :^D)
