Piano Shawl
"Piano Shawl" sounds a bit dowdy or kitschy, but I was determined to make this all-black version work. I found this about a year ago at a local thrift store that carries mainly home goods (any other Decatur Estates fans?), and was actually attracted to its kitschy potential and ability to look just tacky enough on a baby grand. I'm tooting my own horn here, but I think I wear it better than Steinway.
Tank from DressCodes, Skirt from AA, Sandals from trip to Florence (Cinti) 4 years ago (when gladiators were considered ugly).

you are far more fabulous than some old piano. i think the all black makes it much more dramatic, which is the only way to wear a shall.

Ooooh lovely! Raiding piano accessories seems like an interesting idea.

who knew you could find clothing in a home goods store!!
looks great on you! I definitely couldn't tell it was a piano shawl :)
It's very pretty with your hair..
shawl is cute, but i love what you did with your hair!!! is it naturally wavy like that?!
I have a fringey scarf just like this from a thrift store too! I call it my gypsy scarf. The first photo is lovely!
I'll admit, had you not said it was actually for a piano, I wouldn't have known. Cool shoes.
ps. too many people keep telling me to buy that apc suit..
oh my goodness--this is exquisite! I love how delicate and feminine it is on you :-)
I love it. I'm a sucker for anything even vaguely Stevie Nicks.
Hi there-it looks gorgeous, a fab find my dear!
Gorgeous, I love the spanish dancer vibe.
Great throw on! You should tie it in the front and wear it over a random fitted graphic t-shirt or tank!

Ha! i remember those sandals...you were definitely ahead of the curve...
You certainly do! Love how you paired it with sleek, modern pieces ... no stuffy granny vibe here.
My how far we've come with gladiators. Now that they're almost out, it's almost safe to start wearing them again. :) I love me a good shawl!
this look is fabulous on you!
It looks fantastic with the sleek LBD! Nicely done.
Enjoy your dandelions! And I will definitely have to make a trip down south. I've never been to Atlanta, I assume there are great bars and restaurants? Maybe my man and I can swing a business trip! My one request, mint juleps.
BEST. I mean it, I need one, and I need it now. Great styling.
I think it looks great and your hair is so lovely. I wish mine would hurry up and grow.
Lar you are lookin' smokin'!!
Looks great on you! The shawl can have a granny look to it, but you do it so stylishly!
I LOVE the shawl. :-)
It looks great! And your hair looks fabulous. I love the waves :)
this is so pretty on you...what a great idea!
Wow, that doesn't even look like a typical shawl. Great way to wear it! And I like your wavy hair in this pic!

i've been digging on the piano shawls for a couple of years now. i have a peach one, but the black always looks so much classier. what do you do with the big "tail" hanging in the back though? i mean the part you must knot up to wear the shawl this way? maybe your shawl is shorter than mine, but i always seem to have an excess after the knotting that i never know what to do with. i'm really looking for an answer/some advice here, laur!
I love the golden light of the second photo... the composition is just perfect.
Looovely find!! I have never heard of Decatur Estates but I clicked the link and you better believe I will have experienced ASAP!
