Night of the Iguana is one of my favorite movies/plays. I won't babble about it too much here, but you should watch it when you get the chance. It's especially appropriate for the summer time (what Tennessee William play isn't) because it takes place in gorgeous, sunny and hot Puerto Vallarta.
Throughout the entire movie, Ava Gardner wears this drapey poncho shirt with leggings and large earrings. If I wasn't going to work I would go barefoot too. Isn't that the perfect summer uniform? Before Lindsay even touched a pair of leggings, Ava was rocking them out in 90 degree heat, while serving rum cocos to her guests off the beach.
shirt from F21, leggings from Zara, shoes are Max Studio
I didn't have a shirt like Ava's (though now I'm on the prowl in thrift stores) and I had to forego the earrings because I've been wearing too many cheapie ones so now my ears need a rest, but I think this works when your beach is an office and your hammock is an office chair. Eesh- I need a vacation!

This is a photo of Elizabeth Tailor visiting Richard Burton and Ava Gardner on set. Makes you want to get on the next plan to Mexico (circa 1960) doesn't it?

Never seen that movie.. Adorable outfit!
Cute outfit! I'm totally loving plaid shirts right now.
great outfit inspiration! i'm loving your hair in these pics too, it looks slightly rockabilly - you're channeling a very vintage era
I've never seen that movie/play, I'll have to check it out. Diggin' that yellow shirt! And love your playful smile in that 2nd shot, it's like you've got a secret you're bursting to tell :)
I love this movie. And you get lots of points for mentioning it, and wearing something inspired by it!
You look FAB as always!
YAY for cheap earrings and we can always use a lil vacay, yah?
I should see this movie! When I went to Puerto Vallarta with my (then) boyfriend and his uncle, we passed the place where they filmed and my ex's uncle pointed it out.
i love the plaid shirt on you!

I love Night of the Iguana! And I want to jump right into that photo of the three actors.
The retro blue fan is great.
Love your updated interpretation, lady! A little more fitted, and I think that's even more flattering.
Oh I love that last picture. Your version of the outfit came out great!
adorable! love your interpretation!
I don't think everyone's legs call pull off those leggings like that. But your legs rock the look!

Hey Lauren! I've never seen this movie, but the style seems carefree and def. perfect for summer! You look so cute.. love plaid over leggings. And I just added you to my links! Long over-due! :)

the plaid shirt and leggings are a really cute combo:]
Oh I do love Tennessee Williams, all of his books/plays are just so wonderful. I love that tunic by the way!
very comfy and timeless outfit.
I love that movie. Is one of my favourites!
I wish I could look that good in just leggings!! I love your shirt, the colors are great!
Love that film - I am a HUGE classic film buff and I actually went to where they shot it, just outside of Puerto Vallarta - house is still the same!!
such a fabulous film...I love your take on the look!
Love that look on you. And I agree-- I could use a vacation too. Sigh. Just a few more months until my big vacay... Summer weekends at the beach will have to do for now...
Perfect...you knock Ava out of the water :)
more outfit pics! I feel like they haven't been so frequent lately =]
I didn't know they wore leggings so early back then! I adore your sandals!! xxoxoxo
The outfit makes me want to go on a vacation. You really pulled off the leggings well.
great look! and love that old school movie set photo! i need a vacation too!
Your version is super cute as well!
Wow! The black and white pic of the three stars is truly something else. I love how normal and tanned and happy they all look. That's a lot of smoking going on too. Hahaha. Good luck with the movie star wardrobe hunt. I think the checked shirt is a good alternative!
I had to watch this film for a class that I took in college about film noir and femme fatales. To be honest, I don't really remember much about this film because I was too obsessed with "The Maltese Falcon" and Humphrey Bogart's ability to pull off a double breasted suit despite his height.
LOVE that play, never seen the movie, but you capture it nicely! Wasn't she hot in those leggings?? What a lady!
You've totally inspired me, both to see the movie and to put together an outfit like that! So easy and summery!
so perfect!
