The Minnetonka Hat

Photobucket

First it was the tall, black lace-ups and then the short brown fringy boots... it is now the Minnetonka Buffalo Nickel Hat. This is the first thing I've lusted after in a magazine editorial that I've actually been able to afford (a mere $45 including shipping!) and I am in lurve! I really like the entire Mary-Kate cover story for Elle, but I figured I probably couldn't afford or pull off the white, square Luella sunglasses. That's alright, I'm much too enamored with this buffalo hat
to give a damn.

Whoa! At a glace I thought you were one of the twins. Yea, her style is changing, I'm going to have to pick up that issue of ELLE.

Great hat! I love when I see things I own in editorials.

And yes, the Nina Simone version is an amazing classic. I've been looking around for it for ages.

Hats Off to another great buy!

I love hats.. but let me ask a question since you have hair like me. What do you do when you take it off in public..do you??

ponytail.. or do you find your hair flattened out- I have that terrible problem.

I really like hats! But even though it is summer all year round in Singapore. People stare when you are wearing hats like this! :(

secretista, you definitely should! It's a great issue.

Pearl, Key, Sharon Rose, I will definitely show you how I style it... it probably won't be quite as boho as the Mary Kate editorial, but I have to stay away from the farm-girl look too ;)

Cammila, Margherita, Ambika, Jinah, Alex, Kasix, Kitten, thank you so much! You guys are too sweet!

Nay'chelle, I found the Nina Simone version in a used CD shop on her "Essential Nina Simone" album... the whole this is incredible.

Steph and ace, yup! just $45- why can't all gorgeous things be that little?

Amie, thank you! We love your blog too and look at it for daily inspiration!

Angie, I wish I were more of a hair person because I usually don't care about hat hair. If I am wearing a hat I take it off once and a while and shake my hair out and give it a little massage at the roots and that does the trick... If it's beyond hope I just pile my hair on top of my head. Hope that helps!

Yiqin, I get looks in Atlanta too sometimes, but I say just go for it and have fun ;)

that hat looks fabulous on you! you made poor mk look all dowdy...i'd love to see a full body shot as well and how you'd incorporate it into an outfit...perhaps with a flowy dress or a white tunic?

I saw the cover for Elle and thought, "OMG - this is amazing!" and was super excited to see the editorial but found myself slightly disappointed... mostly because there were too many words!! But the styling was impeccable, which is saying a lot because Elle & Vogue US has been slacking a lot in that department lately.

Love the hat!

P.S. Do you feel like the heat in ATL is becoming slowly unbearable?? I'm contemplating shaving my head because it's just TOO HOT TO HAVE HAIR!!!!

I will definitely incorporate the hat into a real outfit and shoot it- and then let me know what you think!

Minnetonka was a popular brand when I was a kid back in the 60s and 70s. I'm pretty sure that I owned at least one pair of their mocassins. Its fun to see these things come back in style.

Okay, that hat looks WAY better on you then Mary-Kate, and I love Mary-Kate. Way to work it!! Do you still have that issue of Elle? I ask because I have been DROOLING over the leather biker boots from Guess by Marciano at the bottom of page 46! What do you think?

ooo you look good in it.

Dana (MODAna) said...

lucky! Enjoy it

It's too hot here to spend any time outside, therefore, no need for hats. Especially not hot suede hats!
