Jacket Weather

I love early fall. There are many reasons why this is my favorite time of year - the crisp air, the colorful leaves and the nostalgia for buying new school supplies etc. But one of the more superficial reasons I love the fall is being able to wear all my jackets. Jackets to me are what shoes are to many women - a bit of an obsession.

I think my love of jackets started out of laziness. It's so easy and quick to try them on at stores - no need to find the shop assistant to unlock a dressing room, peel off layers, kick off your shoes. . . Needless to say, I'm not proud of this addiction. That being said, the only time I feel that my excess jacket spending is justified is during the fall. So here's to cooler weather!

Note: Lauren is not as jacket obsessed as me, but we both are all for the wide-leg denim trend.

On Lauren: shirt is Proenza Schouler for Target, jeans from Bill Hallman in Atlanta, sunglasses from Rockit. On me: shirt from American Apparel, jacket from Topshop (4 years ago), H&M jeans and F21 shoes.

Outfit detail below: I plan to wear my milagro donkey charm until November 5.

Milagro from Mingei World Arts.

I love jackets and coats! When you come from a place where the winters are longer, the article of clothing that people see is your jacket/coat so you need to make a statement with that! I do have to say, now that I live in Atlanta, my cost per wear ratio is more. But I can't complain about shorter winters!

Wide leg jeans look good on you both. Enjoy your jacket weather.. how long does it last though? until March next year maybe? Perth is a warm place. Temp. does go up to 37C (100F)and super dry. It's changing tho.. getting a little humid every year.

Milagro looks special. Is that somewhat related to the local indigenous art?

jackets > shoes in my book too! sadly, living in the south i never get enough use out the ones i currently own.

i'm sure you girls have an amazing jacket collection, and i can't wait to see them as they get worked into rotation as the temps continue to drop!

personally i like my denim skinny but yes i've been into the wide pants look with my other pants. it proportions the body out and its a big reason to wear heals. i think flats are kind of impossible with wide leg pants. very cute pictures =)

Y'all's jeans look great--perfect fit and length! I love jackets too; I thought my jacket obsession was under control (obsession wildly out of control with boots and jeans), but my obessions are apparently endless. Leather jackets are a favorite, and yes!: The ease of trying on jackets is a big lure.

I'm addicted to jackets and coats too. My closet is basically dresses and coats; everything else goes into the dressers.

I love coats and jackets. Too bad I don't get to wear them too often in Florida. The plus side however is that I can always find a fantastic deal on the cutest stuff. My personal best was a cute brown puffy jacket that I picked up at the Gap for $6.99. :)

Hee. I'm a jacket fetishist myself, which is INSANITY as both fall and spring here in MN last about 5 minutes apiece. It's either parka or nada for most of the year.

Love, love, love the teeny donkeypants. Hope he brings us luck in a few weeks!

Hi guys! I might have said this before, but a jacket can really make or break an outfit. During fall and winter I wear black jeans and a black shirt almost everyday, but I very the look by wearing different jackets.

Hey, I know you are Obama fans, and I am excited because he is speaking in my old hometown tomorrow morning, which is about an hour drive from where I live now. A friend has offered to give me a ride, and I might go, depending on what my son wants to do. If I go, I'll try to take pictures.

I definitely agree with you -- I love fall for the same reason (Muriel thought I was nuts when I was hoping for cooler weather when I went back home for a visit -- she prefers wearing shorts). But jackets are only easier to try on. I'm obsessed with trying to find a good fit and I usually end up needing to get the sleeves shortened (I have short arms)--and this is a slight annoyance for me, especially since I can't sew.
