They Aren't Ray Ban

I never buy expensive sunglasses because I'm guaranteed to loose or break them within a month. So I mostly stick to Forever21 and Target for my sunglasses needs; I never spend more than $10 on a pair.

Now, the fancy, colorful pair I'm wearing in the photo below is even better than my Target and F21 versions because they were free. I got them in a gift bag and I think they're meant to be a cheesy party favor, but I love them. To some they might seem dated and down-right ugly, but to me they have potential to look like a Proenza Schouler-inspired accessory.

Sunglass ?, Gap tank, McQueen for Target pants, Dolce Vita shoes from Eviva.

Still questioning the sunglasses? Well, let's just say the price was very recession-friendly.

Uhh, if you do buy expensive sunglasses and keep your receipt, they will replace them when they break. I bought mine from Sunglass Hut and I had a defect in my glasses and they repaired the arms in the store for me for free.

What if I sit on them? Or drive over them? Or drop them in the sewer. Too risky. I'll still with my cheapies.

It's Murphy's Law, the more you pay for sunglasses, the higher the probability that you will lose them. Case in point, I got a pair from a gift bag at a store opening about 5 years ago. I still have them because they were free. If I actually paid for them, guaranteed they would be lost.

Glad you guys like the sunglasses! I was a little hesitant to do this post since they're not necessarily flattering.

Greenjeans, bring back the Elvis style ones! I'd love that!

June, you're totally right. It's Murphy's Law. Best stick to the cheap ones.

I'm with you Phamzy. F21 sunglasses all the way!

Those sunnies look really fun, although I must compliment your trousers first. I disagree though, you are much less likely to be careless with items you spent your whole shopping budget on. I still have a pair of (slightly tacky) D&G sunnies from 3 years ago, but the H&M sunnies from that time are nowhere to be found. Plus I have assymetric ears, so cheaper sunglasses don't fit me as well and end up loopsided.

I absolutely love the glasses! They kind of remind me of a mad scientist Dr. Strangelove type, only it's a super chic mad scientist on a fabulous summer day. Love the irony!

Cool sunglasses!

I've been wearing glasses since I was 8. I figure if I've learned how to take care of a pair of glasses for years without breaking them, I can do the same with sunglasses, so I can justify being a bit more spend-y. :-)

Last summer I had lots of pairs.. Now I have one pair.. Proves your point when it comes to me too. I can´t own expensive ones! I need to go shopping for sunnies!

I break my sunglasses all the time and I don't see the reason to buy an expensive pair either but I'm going to try and buy one now since the weather is warming up. I love your pants! xxoxoxoxoxo

I'm digging those shoes with the pinstripe pants.
I also don't spend much on sunglasses for the same reasons but also wonder if the cheap ones truly have adequate UV protection. Hope we aren't sacrificing our vision!

The last pair of shades I spent more than $12 on; I sat on them the 3rd day of having them. So sad. Granted they were still economical (only $40), but still...a sad waste of dollah billz.

Hurrah for cheap shades!!

I've got a flat, Asian face, so I buy any glasses that don't leave dents in my cheek, which has been like 2 pairs. Do y'all ever have that problem?

I say wear whatever you like whether it's expensive or dirt cheap. All that matters is that it makes you feel good.
