Sunday/Monday

I hope you guys all had a wonderful long weekend. In between the Arts Fest, I found time to stroll through my favorite cemetery (I swear, locals can attest, the Decatur Cemetery is downright pretty, gorgeous in fact), and do normal things like hang out with great friends and visit a favorite shop.

I picked up this backpack at Mingei (aforementioned favorite shop). It's made from a traditional, hand-embroidered Guatemalan shirt- and it was dirt cheap. I had one very similar (and much less authentic) when I was 11. I believe it was from the far away land of J.C.Penny. Nice, huh?

That does look like quite the picturesque cemetery. Sweet bag too. How come whenever I try and wear a hat like that I look goofy instead of cool?

ps 25 hrs/week of ballet? did your toes hurt?

cemetaries are very intruiging. I love the really old ones with old fashioned names and thin slanted headstones. Amazing bag, I love the colors and all that detailing.

You look great! Love the bag and the colors! I forgot to let you know that yes, love the JC Doo lace-up shoes! Have you ever noticed the bottom of the JC boxes (under all the tissue paper)?? It freaked me out at first b/c I didn't know what it was. Let me know if you think that's real or fake. :) I think it's real..

Oh JC Penny, the source of my youthful fashion. A land of plentiful belly shirts and baggy jeans (obviously I grew up in the nineties). I love the bag and the hat. Also, I frequently drag people to picnic in cemeteries, they usually think I'm crazy but end up having a good time.

Everyone knows that Uptons and Mervyns were the place to go. hahaha

I had these boots from Mervyns when I was 10. They were named 'Alicia' and I thought I was the SHIT. My gay bf just had a moment to reminisce about his Duckhead/Salty Dog gear from Uptons. God, we were so extra lame.

OK, so it took me until the third pair of JC shoes to even move the tissue paper away and actually look at the bottom of the box. I thought it was a personalized note to me at first and then started to read it and got weirded out. HA! BTW, thanks for the sweet comments on the La Mimi feature. You girls rock!! :)

The backpack is so unexpectedly cool! & I love old cemeteries--Seattle's aren't so great but I always find myself visiting them in other cities.
