Work-a-work

So after a couple of posts showing off Lar's never ending creativity, I thought I'd tone things down a bit and show you one of my everyday work outfits. Obviously nothing groundbreaking (and nothing as amazing as studded Toms - woot!), but I'm constantly racking my brain trying to figure out work appropriate wear for the warmer months that won't leave me sweating buckets at the office.

Photobucket
Cassius sunglasses from Moxsie.com, secondhand vest, H&M tank, Asos.com pencil skirt, heels from BR outlet.

I'm trying to figure out how to break out of the vest-and-tank-with-skirt uniform, but it just works so well for the summer months. Any suggestions, dear reader?

I love the vest + tank, it's the perfect way to go sleeveless and stay chic and made up. I'm not a working girl (not like that!) so unfortunately I don't have a wealth of advice to offer. You look cute as is though :~)

I love this look! Why change a good thing? :-)

Co-sign what Lesley said. Vests are awesome. You could always wear a shirt and tie and see how us guys experience work+summer (I heard windsor knots are pretty cool).

ps. That painting of the girl in the red dress is really cool.

pps. so is that bottle of makers mark. (i'm scared that i recognized the profile...)

Thanks Emz!

Zombie Lace, I'm glad I'm not the only who loves the vest and tank combo!

Lesley, you are very wise. I'm just worried about falling into a fashion rut.

Well played Greenjeans! As soon as I find a decent thin black tie I'll try to rock that look this summer. I copied that painting from some painting I saw in an apartment that was featured in Domino last year and I won't be passing any judgment on anyone who is a Makers Mark fan.

That outfit looks great! I also need to begin adjusting my closet to avoid embarrassing sweat marks :X Beautiful smile btw! xo

I usually resort to a light dress with a long sweater, but maybe you shouldn't listen to me because I work in a building that has a temperature close to the polar ice caps. Layering is a necessity.

I think I've figured out your sister's profession (freelance graphic designer?), but I still have yet to pin yours down. Other than the obvious "Office Lady", the details escape me.

I wonder!

Great look for the office in the summer! Hmm I don't have anything to suggest other than maybe try a tailored knee-length walking short or a short-sleeved blazer with a tank top underneath.

Girrrrrrrrrl, if you find out...DISH! I am stuck in pencil skirt + tank + cardi. Not to mention I'm stuck in black, white, navy, grey...kind of depressing after a while. Bleh. But you look great as always, I love relating to other bloggers with "real [office] jobs"
