Lar and I have never been the sporty types. When our mom asked as five-year olds if we wanted to do ballet or soccer, we told her we'd cry everyday if she forced us to play soccer instead of do ballet. So somehow, even at an early age, we've been biased against sports.
That being said, I've been trying to be more open-minded about sports and have gone to a few games recently. Plus, I like the whole social aspect of watching sports - hanging out with friends, eating junk food and drinking ice-cold cokes and beers.
About a month ago I went to a Braves game with some friends. Being more of a skirt and dress/ non-sporty type, it took me a couple of moments to figure out an appropriate game-watching outfit. A summer dress with sandals seemed too dressy, so I went with a denim skirt and tank. Lar took these photos of me when I got back from the game. I actually wore my red Toms Shoes to the game, not these impractical heels:
Hat from a local boutique in Decatur, skirt and tank from H&M.
I don't like wearing a lot of jewelry with casual outfits, so Lar let me borrow her trucker hat - I think it added a little bit of sportiness to an otherwise ho-hum outfit.
I know some of you non-fashion-obsessed out there can't understand planning out an outfit to wear to a baseball game, but I think that's half the fun. Who's with me?

Personally, I think every event deserves to have an outfit planned out. You never know who you could meet! :-)
Oh, and your hat is adorable!
Going to games is the best thing ever. Beer, sunshine, and trash talking; ingredients for a great day.
Although it is interesting to see what girls wear to games-it ranges from the comically overdressed to the cool. That hat is cool. And toms with a laid back outfit is always apropos for a game, no?
you make the sporty outfit turned chic... turned hip...good choice!
your hair looks good in that baseball cap...
That hat is...divine!
OMFG, I can't u just said "game-watching outfit"
if you plan it then it doesn't feel spontaneous, if you really want a sport watching out fit as soon as you walk into your closet say "fuck this" and pick what ever just came out of the dryer.
Haha usually I'm biased against sports too. Looking cute :)
I think every event deserves a good outfit planning time! Dressing up is so much fun...
You look cute with the hat:)
You look so adorable! I think going to sporting events is great opportunity look cute in casual clothes but with a little flair and you've done it! xxooxxoxo
Hi there-I agree, its great to plan a casual outfit out-the hat you chose brought your outfit together really well!!
the hat totally makes the outfit good call yeah whenever i go to hockey games i never know what to wear ... heels will definitely get you noticed though!
I agree with Lesley! Every event deserves a planned outfit, even if it's just running errands on your day off. Glad you enjoyed the game! I've recently become a convert as well :)
you guys did freakin fantastic on that styling job!!! bravo!
My husband and I have season tickets to professional soccer games, and there is definitely an art to dressing appropriately for sporting events. I cannot explain why, but white jeans are incredibly popular. Shorts. Regular jeans, because the games are usually at night, but rarely skinny jeans. No heels, but wedges work. It's always good to wear a shirt in the home team's color, even if it's not specifically a team logo shirt. I often choose the jean skirt, so bravo on that. Yeah. It's tricky.
How do you put your photos in big size on your blog??? I tried to put my photos as large, and tried to resize it. But it doesn´t work.
By the way great blog you have there!

Joy

Haha! I am so anti-sports as well. And yes, it took me about 6 years to figure out what to wear to my brother's soccer games. Lovely blog, btw. wanna swap links? xx
I so agree! I plan my outfits most days (or have a pretty good idea of what I want to wear) I have never been into sports either and I'm always watching them rather than playing myself!
I think that hat is awesome! It definitely adds a little something to your cute otufit!!!

I think even the non-fashion obsessed would have to plan an outfit for a sporty event. Unless they dress casually all the time. I mean, I can't imagine wearing a dress and sandals carrying one of my "good" bags to a game! I'd be too uncomfortable.
yes it is def hard to figure it out and i always end up with a jean skirt and a tank as well. and i always end up purchasing a jersey so that the next time i go to a game i would have something to wear. and the jerseys all look cute with a jean skirt.
you look oober cute with the trucker hat!

my fashion usually involves a white men's hanes v-neck and shorts. maybe a skirt. maybe a tank instead of the t-shirt. we should trade style tips. i'll give you the lowdown on casual. you tell me how to look more like a girl. deal? deal.
I plan outfits for everything...you're not alone :P
i am, i am! i didn't used to like sports either, but like the social aspect too!
I love that the *thought* of playing soccer made you guys cry! I did ballet too! Fun outfit & so great with Toms :) Hope you gals had a fab weekend!
lol, I'm the same way
you look so cute!
kudos from a fellow non-sporty type. my friend once asked me if i knew how to run...
Good call going with the tank and denim skirt. You look super cute! Choosing what to wear to a sporting event is always tough because you don't want to appear too over-dressed... at least that's my problem. :)
