I ended my W subscription over two years ago because I can't stand how they uglify everything. Half of the fashion spreads are so blurry or stylized that it's hard to see the actual clothing.
The recent issue with Knightly and McAvoy further proves my point. The magazine took two very good looking actors and turned them into overly-posed, awkward biker ballerinas? If this is high fashion, I want no part of it!
I'm very confused by the pairing of the black grometed top with a tutu. Hasn't the mix of grunge and feminine been done to death? That top would look much better with black, skinny pants and a looser hairstyle. And the tutu would better with...a corset and some pointe shoes.
Don't misunderstand me, I like the mixing of styles, but this outfit is poorly executed.
One of the reasons I'm so obsessive about fashion magazines is because I love how stylists are able to take seemingly unwearable pieces from the runway and throw them together to make a fantastic outfit. The image below doesn't have any of that - in fact the jacket looked more wearable on the runway than in this spread.
I'll be sticking with my regular intake of Vogues, Elles and Lucky from now on.

omg I agree - why did they make Keira knightly look so ugly????? She can't be happy with this!
The hair is so lackluster, and the clothes look cheap. It's terrible, I thought W had much higher standards!
Thanks bitterbabe and heather for making me feel less crazy. I agree, what was W thinking?
I completely agree.. The outfits are a no-no..
And I think Keira Knightley is already a big poser. This is just too much for me.
I don't think Keira looks ugly, but her hair and outfit were awful :/
On the other hand, don't u just love James McAvoy's eyes & eyebrows. So peircing!
This lady, you're right. She does have a certain pout that always shows up in her photos.
Pomegranate & patchouli, James McAvoy is so dreamy.
I agree; the cover was badly done. It looks very cliched. I'm a bit tired of Keira Knightley altogether. And, I don't understand James McAvoy's pose in the second photo. It's not flattering to him or the leather jacket. Yikes. Luckily, his eyes draw the attention...
They look like they are wearing uncomfortable underpants!
Mare, you're so right. I've been trying to ignore the second photo ever since I posted it because Mr. McAvoy's pose is so awkward!
Vintage Bunny, you must be right. What else would explain it?
the only item in the whole pictorial that I liked was the Chanel ring. And that's it!!
I agree with you about W magazine. I'm done with them.
soul tanggg, glad to know I'm not alone!
