Casual Friday

After posting about multi-colored tights, Fashion Tidbits asked for some photos of Lauren and I wearing colorful tights. I don't have a photo of Lauren yet, but below is a photo of me on Friday when I wore my raspberry colored tights.

I usually wouldn't wear colored tights to work, but we're allowed to dress down on Fridays, so I thought I'd go for it. None of my colleagues said anything, but when I walked outside to go to lunch a group of women who were walking behind me made a few remarks to each other about how they would never wear purple tights. Oh well, you win some, you loose some. Nevertheless, it was fun to wear something a little different to work.

Turtleneck and Cardigan: H&M
Skirt: American Apparel
Tights: Hue (found at TJ Maxx)
Boots: Payless

Love the tights!!

And, pshhtt don't listen to your co-workers. You wore the tights right. The outfit was toned down and the colored tights gave it the right touch of color!

Agree with secretista. And the color gives the overall outfit a punch. Suggestion: also try it with wedged platform and post the picture!

Thanks for the support Secretista - that's what I was going for, the right amount of punch.

Lynn, unfortunately I don't have any wedged platforms, but you're right, that would look great with the tights!

Katie, now that I think about it, you're right. They were wearing all black.

Pomegranate, I hope you post some pics of yourself wearing those colorful tights. I bet you look great in them!

The tights look great; frankly, I think it's alarming someone said anything--katie summed it up when she wrote: "...clearly those women are boring."

Thanks Mare. Yeah, I was kind of taken aback by how loudly they were speaking. But you know what they say "All is fair in Fashion and..." Wait, that's not it at all!

Are you serious?? I love colored tights! I never thought they would be unprofessional.... in fact, the other day I wore a pair of bright green tights from American Apparel to the client....

You look hot BTW!

Hi, I wanted to follow up on my previous comment: I didn't intend to say that it was alarming that the women said anything about the purple tights (loud enough for you to hear it--hmmmm); naw, no surprise, people are rude everyday and it's so very charming (sigh). What I found alarming is that the purple tights were too much for them. And if purple tights are too much for them! They are apparently very boring people. Color isn't scary (or inappropriate for many workplaces--maybe not IBM, but at every professional place I've worked they would be fine. Generally, there is more casual wear in many companies). So now, don't you pay those women any mind!:-) The outfit looked great, and the tights really augmented it. I hope you continue to wear outfits that incorporate color. Vive la purple [insert color here] tight!!!

Bitterbabe and Mare, thank you both for being so sweet!

I like it. Ultimately, we have to live with our opinion of ourself more than the opinion of others, so if you felt fabulous in that outfit and rocked it with a great attitude...then in the end that's what's most important.
