Inspiration: Erika Kurihara

She is a fashion editor at i-D, is a frequently snapped by The Sartorialist and featured on Jak and Jil, she owns those Prada peep-toes, and just happens to be naturally gorgeous... I'd be green with envy if I wasn't so busy trying to take notes.

Cath and I love how she isn't super-trendy (black pointy foot-wear, spandex-clad legs, architectural Balmain jackets), but looks chic and completely original. It is also true that we have a soft spot for Asian ladies in fashion (that doesn't mean we are eschewing our Cajun side, mom!) because diversity still seems fairly sparse in what is supposed to be a cutting-edge world.

I feel so out of it - I've never seen this astonishingly stylish femme. And you're so right: She's got overtones of trend, but nothing overt. Just loads of highly personal, highly original style.

She's gorgeous. I really like how she's rocking the third look. And there's nothing wrong with having a soft spot for the Asian ladies in fashion! I interviewed a local designer last year who's Caucasian and says she reads Japanese magazines for style inspiration when she's not people-watching.

Also can't hurt that she's a Hapa just like you two! <3 Asians!

We Asians gotta stick together (at least blog together, LOL).

She is gorgeous and has amazing style.

And there are actually many Asians in American fashion now, and not all of them are men. How about Anna Sui or all of the asian models on NY fashion week?

Hey thanks for introducing me to this lovely lady! She is just working those outfits to death. I agree with your comment about diversity in fashion. It often strikes me how little I come across of it when I'm on the net or flicking through magazines.

I love EK's style and have seen her on The Sartorialist. I have always loved Asian influences. But let's not forget what it has done continually for music, art, film, and home decor even. What I love most about it in fashion is that it can be utterly simplistic while being oh so very complex.
