When Hipters and Preps Collide

That's right, menswear designer brand Band of Outsiders has somehow figured out how to mesh the contrasting preppy and hipster styles. The brand's emphasis on suits and button-up shirts, the prices (expect to pay $250+ for a shirt), and nautical-themed collection viewing makes it preppy. Pairing the suits ironically with top-siders, the quirky photo shoots (see images below), a blog-format website, and being friends with Jason Schwartzman makes it hipster-friendly.

If a menswear line can bring together hipsters and preps, then surely world peace can't be that implausible.

Love it. My gay guy friend would die over this. I hope, well he won't shell out $$$ for a shirt.

v. unaffordable for me, but it does give some serious inspiration and pieces like the ones shown can be found in some derivative form or another....

PS: the last guy was in Marie Antoinette, right? is that the Schartzman character...or are you talking about someone else

Secretista, maybe you can convince him to look for their items on ebay.

Bronwyn, you can check out the rest of the photos on the website.

Coco, I especially love Jason Schwartzman's hair. How long do you think it took to style?

Linda, you're right. Mr. Schwartzman was in Marie Antoinette. He's also in a number of Wes Anderson's films and a member of the band Phantom Planet.
